Last time, on a Friday evening I had had a difficult time getting back to Mollynogger in the dinghy, had a rough and rolly Saturday at anchor, and then escaped Sunday morning during a brief lull in the weather. I had just enough time to motor down the Neuse River to Broad Creek and found a spot next to a little island. There was more stiff wind in the forecast, so I nudged up toward the shore and dropped my anchor where I would get some shelter from a thick clump of trees. I’d been here in the creek before on Ruth Ann and it’s a peaceful spot with not too many houses and very little traffic.
I was scheduled to get Mollynogger hauled out at Hurricane Boatyard on the fifteenth of the month, but I had also checked to see if I could get in sooner. Therefore, my schedule was up in the air, I had left Oriental in a hurry, and I wasn’t as stocked up as I would have liked. We were a little low on diesel too. On that stretch of river, my options for provisioning were pretty slim. Once the weather had settled, I decided to backtrack to Oriental.
